What should I do if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible. We appreciate at least 24 hours' notice to accommodate other clients.

What is a keratin treatment, and how does it benefit my hair?

We offer a range of treatments that can be intermixed or used in succession to repair, nourish, or moisturise your hair. Our keratin treatments are not only for smoothing—they are suitable for all hair types. We even offer a specific treatment that can be applied before colouring to protect your hair against bleach, ensuring your hair remains healthy throughout the colouring process.

How long does a keratin treatment last

Keratin treatments typically last between 3 to 6 months, depending on your hair type and aftercare routine. At Keratin Lab, we source the best products internationally and have tested countless brands to ensure that Vitaker is the best of the best. We offer a keratin menu with treatments that each have specific outcomes, allowing us to create a tailored programme for your hair type—whether you need to repair, nourish, or moisturise your hair.

Are keratin treatments suitable for all hair types?

Yes, our keratin treatments are suitable for all hair types. Our expert stylists can customise the treatment to address your specific hair needs.

How should I care for my hair after a keratin treatment or colour treatment?

We recommend using sodium chloride and sulphate-free shampoos and conditioners, such as our recommended Vitaker or Davines ranges, avoiding excessive heat styling, swimming in salt water, and not washing your hair for at least 24 hours after the treatment to prolong the results. This is the same with our colour services in the salon and should be standard aftercare practice.

Will a keratin treatment make my hair completely straight?

This depends on the outcome you desire. Keratin treatments will smooth your hair and reduce frizz, but the level of straightness depends on your natural hair texture and the specific treatment chosen. We have options that can be tailored to your needs, including treatments that work effectively on curly hair. Curly hair often needs extra moisture, and we can provide a moisture-specific keratin treatment to enhance and maintain healthy curls while making them more manageable.

What type of hair extensions do you offer?

We offer Easihair Pro extensions, a premium brand known for its high quality and natural look. Our extensions are designed to add volume and length while blending seamlessly with your natural hair.

How long do Easihair Pro extensions last?

Tape-in extensions typically last 6 to 8 weeks, while weft extensions can last up to 3 months. At The Keratin Lab, we offer services for removal, retape, and reinstallation to ensure your extensions are maintained properly.

How do I care for my extensions to ensure they last as long as possible?

We recommend using gentle, sulphate-free hair products, such as the Davines range, which is natural and sustainable. Avoid excessive heat or pulling when styling your extensions, and always brush carefully, starting from the ends and working upwards.

Can I colour my hair if I have extensions?

Yes, but it is best to have your colour done by a professional stylist to ensure that both your natural hair and extensions are treated safely and effectively. Easihair Pro extensions come with a guarantee, but you will lose this guarantee if you change the colour of the hair. Our team can remove, treat and retape the extensions while you receive a colour or keratin treatment on your natural hair.

Which brands do you use at The Keratin Lab?

We use salon-only professional brands, including Vitaker, Easihair Pro, Davines, and GHD all known for their high salon quality and effectiveness in maintaining healthy hair.

Can I buy salon-quality products used at The Keratin Lab to use at home?

Yes, we offer a range of professional products for purchase, so you can maintain your hair's health and beauty at home.

How can I maintain my hairstyle after leaving the salon?

Our stylists will recommend the best products and techniques for maintaining your hairstyle at home. We also offer follow-up consultations if you have any questions.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash and offer a 5% discount on cash transactions. We also accept credit and debit cards, and we have a payment plan available through PayJustNow. Please contact us if you have specific payment questions.

Do you accept walk-ins, or is it appointment-only?

We recommend making an appointment, as this ensures you get the time that works best for you. If you do not find an available slot on Fresha, our online booking system, please call or WhatsApp the salon. We also accept walk-ins if there is availability.

Is there a cancellation policy?

Yes, we require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations to avoid a cancellation fee. This helps us manage our schedule and accommodate other clients.

What measures are you taking to ensure health and safety in the salon?

We follow strict health and safety protocols, including regular sanitisation of tools and workstations, and ensuring that our salon is a clean and safe environment for everyone.

Are your treatments safe during pregnancy?

All our treatments are generally safe, but we do not recommend them during the first trimester of pregnancy. This precaution also applies to our colour services and should be standard practice in all salons. Please let us know if you are pregnant, and we will adjust our services accordingly.

Do you offer consultations, and are they available online?

Yes, we offer consultations both in-person and online to help you decide which treatments are best for your hair.

Can I work from the salon during my appointment?

Absolutely! We have a comfortable work-from-salon space with free WiFi where you can be productive while getting your hair done.

Do you have an on-site refreshments?

Yes, we have a full-service coffee bar managed by Theuns, offering delicious coffee and treats to enjoy during your visit.
